This position will interact with all employees including management, safety, human resources, quality, corporate representatives, customers, vendors, and contractors.  This is a highly demanding position in a fast-paced environment. The impact of this position on the business is very important as it ensures that daily safety, quality, production, environmental and cost goals are achieved.  The person in this position will have a high level of interaction with hourly employees throughout the daily schedule.  The decisions made by the person filling this position are of a highly technical nature, and in the mid-to-high range of complexity and independent judgment as related to facility maintenance.  This position’s primary functions are conducted in accordance with established policy and principles.  This position has 4 hourly employees reporting to it and may be responsible for more with contractors on site. 

 

Support for Clarkson, ON when required.

 

Flex schedule may be required, depending on operational needs.

 

 

Responsibilities / Responsabilités

  1. Ensure that the daily maintenance calls and issues are addressed and resolved
  2. Plans and directs the Preventive Maintenance Program to maintain the machinery and equipment at the facility effectively.
  3. Maintains an effective workforce by training, counselling and motivating employees.
  4. Ensure that all necessary administrative work is complete and accurate.
  5. Coverage for Operations Manager - Support Materials department and Mobile Repair functions. (duties vary)
  6. Supervises and manages the performance of maintenance department employees.
  7. Administers human resource policies and procedures, e.g. staffing, attendance, performance issues, and training. 
  8. Support all project and maintenance-related expenses
  9. Assist in the preparation of capital, operating, and repair budgets, justifying as applicable
  10. Lead/assist in the preparation of justification for capital investment proposals.
  11. Provide support and updates to current year budgeting and planning for upcoming years
  12. Support a relentless problem-solving methodology to improve performance within the service center
  13. Support Continuous Improvement projects.
  14. Aid in the creation and updating of Standard Work/ PM processes as needed
  15. Assist with other duties as required

Qualifications / Qualification

Education and/or Experience Required (including certifications):

  • 10+ years’ experience in a fast-paced production environment with preferably 5+ years of facility maintenance experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
